Our team was honored to complete the flooring installation for the all-new May Whitney Elementary School — a 119,000 sq ft replacement facility that opened in 2021 for Lake Zurich Community Unit School District 95. Designed by DLA Architects and built by Lamp Incorporated, the project reflects modern educational design with bright, flexible learning environments and a strong emphasis on durability and sustainability.

Boss Contract Flooring supplied and installed a range of high-performance materials throughout the building — from colorful corridors and classrooms to the gymnasium and collaborative maker spaces — providing surfaces that are visually engaging, acoustically balanced, and built to endure years of student activity.

Some interesting notes about the project:

  • Design alignment: Flooring materials and colors were carefully coordinated with DLA Architects’ learning-studio concept, supporting visual wayfinding and grade-level identity.
  • Durability for education: Selected resilient and carpet surfaces deliver exceptional wear resistance and easy maintenance in high-traffic academic environments.
  • Acoustic comfort: Products and underlayment systems help control sound transmission, creating quieter classrooms and shared spaces.
  • Sustainability focus: Low-VOC adhesives and durable, recyclable flooring systems complement the building’s geothermal HVAC and energy-efficient design.
  • Seamless execution: Installation was completed under a tight construction schedule, ensuring the new school was ready for students at the start of the 2021–22 academic year.
